The two kinds we use
We keep things simple and use only two categories.
- Strictly necessary. They keep you signed in, protect your account and remember your cookie choice. The site cannot work without them, so they are always on and do not need your consent.
- Analytics. Google Analytics tells us which pages are read and where visitors drop off, so we can improve qeda.io. These cookies are off until you accept them.
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media cookies. If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics runs on qeda.io [TBC: also docs.qeda.io? not on the dashboard?], and only after you accept analytics cookies. Until then, the Google script is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google.
Once you accept, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine or a link), your approximate country and city, and your device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features, so this data is not used to show you ads [TBC: confirm in GA admin].
The _ga cookies expire after 13 months. Google keeps the statistics linked to them for 14 months, then deletes them. Google may process this data in the United States. How we protect transfers is explained in our Privacy Policy, and Google's own use is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Payment, sign-in and support services
Some actions take you to another company's website, which sets its own cookies under its own policy. Qeda cannot read those cookies.
Replies from our team are handled in Qeda Ops, our in-house support tool, which does not place cookies in your browser.
How to accept, refuse or change your mind
On your first visit
A banner offers three buttons: "Reject all", "Customize" and "Accept all". Reject and accept have the same size and the same place. Until you choose, analytics stays off. Refusing analytics changes nothing about how qeda.io or the dashboard work.
At any time
Open , also linked at the top of this page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. When you turn analytics off, we stop loading Google Analytics and delete the _ga cookies from your browser.
In your browser
Every browser lets you see and delete cookies, or block them, in its privacy settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Opera and the browsers built into Android and iOS). If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in to the dashboard. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.
How long your choice lasts
We keep your choice for 6 months in the qeda_consent cookie, then ask again. We also ask again sooner if we add a cookie that needs consent. Your choice is saved per browser and per device, so you may see the banner again on a new phone or after clearing your cookies.
The rules we follow
Our visitors come from many countries. Rather than show a different banner in each one, we apply the strictest common rule to everyone: no cookie other than strictly necessary ones without your prior, free and informed consent, and a refusal as easy as an acceptance.
This meets the EU ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR (including the guidance of the CNIL in France), the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and its General Application and Implementation Directive, and the data protection laws of Kenya, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Benin, Ghana and South Africa. The rights you have over data collected through cookies, and the authority you can complain to, are listed in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever we add, remove or change a cookie. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change needs your consent, the banner will ask you again before the new cookie is set.
